About Our Crest

The crest for The Chemical Club of New England was designed by Seth U. Shorey. The membership approved and adopted the crest during the 1958-1959 fiscal year.

The description of the CREST was included in the membership directory for the year 1967-1968.

The open book at the top of the crest symbolizes the club's scholarship program and contributions to learning.

On the shield itself in the top section, there are two gold triangles which are the chemical symbols for heat and energy.

The three horizontal bars in the middle section symbolize the triple bond of highly reactive matetials. The star in the bottom section symbolizes space and its exploration.
